Uprooted is a photographic documentary project based around moving out of my first apartment. This project takes a physical form through the use of tintype photography. Uprooted consists of a series of double-exposed images taken in various locations around my previous apartment such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. Each image are double exposed, once without anybody occupying the space, and then again with people who are close to me in the photo. The images look natural and unplanned as if truly stopping the clock and capturing a moment in time. I decided to do double exposures for this project to give each image a dreamlike appearance, almost as if looking into my memories. I want to not only capture people interacting with the space in a warm and welcoming way but also highlight the melancholy feeling of moving away from a place that truly felt like home.
