Ollie Lauricella is a Hamilton-based artist/fine art photographer who has recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University. Ollie creates work using analogue as well as digital mediums with a focus on queer theory. Most projects are done in a documentary or photojournalistic style but Ollie also likes to produce street photography as well as capture scenes within nature.
Main works include photographic series such as Through My Eyes, a continuous thesis project about queer life and experiences, Trick (What You See vs What You Know), a series highlighting how trans bodies are perceived both for the individual and through societal lenses, and Out of The Shadows, a project highlighting historical queer struggles within the mental health system.
The main focus of Ollie’s projects is to not only create art but to also build a welcoming community.
